At times, partners will get stuck in conflict, often feeling like they are running around in circles with each other. This may be due to recent transitions, life changes, differences in values, or past traumas that show up in the relationship. This can often cause partners to feel withdrawn or hurt by their partner(s). This may make it difficult to communicate and be vulnerable with each other. At times, partners may feel unsure if they want to stay together, part ways, or transition to a different relationship dynamic.
Relationship counseling (or "couples+ counseling") is an opportunity to become aware of these relationship patterns and re-establish trust, connection, and intimacy. Through this, partners can turn towards each other in times of need and navigate conflict more easily.
I utilize Emotion Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT). In this type of therapy, I help partners gain awareness into their relationship patterns and cycles, including their attachment styles and trauma responses. From there, my goal is to help you re-establish trust and connection so that you can both feel loved and secure with each other.
I am passionate about supporting a variety of relationship orientations, including polyamorous/non-monogamous people. I invite everyone involved to be a part of therapy, which may include more than two people. I also welcome a variety of cultures, ways of being, sexual and gender identities, family formations, and spiritual practices.
